Apocalypse Now is a 1979 American epic war film set during the Vietnam War, directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall, and Martin Sheen. The film’s central character, U.S. Army special operations officer Captain Willard, is sent on a mission to assassinate Colonel Walter E. Kurtz, a rogue Green Beret officer who has established his own base of operations deep inside the Cambodian jungle where he is worshipped as a god by local Montagnard tribesmen.
